“Before I shaped you in the womb, I knew all about you. Before you saw
the light of day, I had holy plans for you: A prophet to the nations-
that’s what I had in mind for you.” Jeremiah 1:5

It is still completely mind blowing to me how in a few months all of us will be in Africa together. But that is one of the most amazing things about God, how he called each of us specifically for this trip because he knows with all our talents, we can carry out his plans! And how completely marvelous those plans are.
Growing up, my family has had some problems, so I’ve always had good solid relationships with my brother and sister. My sister, Hilary, has always had a heart for missions and has gone on many mission trips with AIM and with our church. Although I didn’t quite understand the extent of what happens on a mission trip, traveling the world and talking about God seemed like a pretty sweet deal! So from a young age I’ve always thought it would be pretty cool to try it out sometime, but it wasn’t until about 8th grade that Jesus wrecked my life. I had already accepted Christ, but never experienced him like this. He started showing me his love and grace in completely crazy ways and turned the world as I knew it upside down! His love just makes me want to fall to my knees right here and now!
God placed going to Africa on my mind and my heart starting about March of 2009, but I didn’t know the extent of where or when I was going to go, all I knew was I had a deep passion for it. During that summer I went on a mission trip to Matamoros, Mexico with AIM and my youth group. It was so humbling and gave me a new found appreciation for everything I had. God worked in the most radical crazy ways and it blew me away! Along with that it confirmed my every thought about about going to Africa, so I signed up in the fall to go to Kenya! As soon as I got accepted, an overwhelming sense of peace came over me.
Ever since then, going on this mission trip is the ONLY thing that enters my mind, and I am dead serious. I can’t even contain my excitement for everything wonderful happening! I am crazy in love with God and his love is practically pouring out of me. I have pretty much already fallen in love with everyone going, and I can’t wait to come back a new person!
